Can I move my 401k out of my company and into a seperate IRA?
I know you can move it out if you leave the company. If I am still employeed with my company, can I move my 401K to an IRA at a independent broker?
I would continue to contribute my monthy amount. I would just like to take all or some of my current amount. and just move it to a broker IRA. where I would have hundreds of choices.
Does anyone know how the law reads? I know by law if I leave the company they cannot keep my 401k. and I know if I leave I could leave it with the company, if they agree (Why anyone would do this is beyond me). But what if I am still currently employeed? How does the law read? thanks
Yes, you can roll it over, but if the company supplies a match, it might not be worth it.
start by talking to your employer. ask them why your choices are so limited…
it is usually limited because somebody sold them a lousy plan and/or someone is getting a kickback on the fees.
complain, look for another job before doing this!
